The concept for Basketball For All Inc. was introduced in 2013 by John Lund who was a volunteer for the Strake Jesuit Preparatory School basketball team in Houston,Tx A group of students with special needs were invited to play a friendly game of basketball with the boys basketball team, little did they know from this single game that the Buddy Basketball program would be formed. The Buddy Basketball program previously sponsored by the Down Syndrome Association of Houston partnered with the Strake Jesuit basketball team in which these special athletes and student volunteers participated in scrimmages during halftime of varsity basketball games.

Scottie began volunteering with the Buddy Basketball team in the fall 2015 and assisted with coaching and coordinating events. John Lund tragically passed away in May of 2017, and Scottie agreed to assume the role of head coach and event organizer in the Fall of 2017 for the Buddy Basketball team. Scottie vowed to keep the tradition of Buddy Basketball going and dedicated his inaugural season as head coach to his good friend John Lund. Under Scottie’s leadership he increased the number of scheduled games at local high schools and colleges. The program received overwhelming support from the community and the demands for participation increased . Due to the high demands and the need to bring awareness and inclusion to the special needs community the nonprofit organization Basketball For All Inc was formed. Basketball Ball For All Inc. is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization that is open to all athletes regardless of their disabilities.
